Sinus Pain

Many people suffer with sinusitis better known as a sinus infection. Its often triggered by allergens or pollen in the air even the common cold. Sinus problems causes inflammation of the mucus membrane or sinus passageways which cause symptoms of headaches, intense pressure in the nose, eyes, face and jaw in acute cases you may experience fever and coughing. The thick yellowish mucus causes blockage and the nasal passage swells making it hard to breathe and poor drainage tend to cause the phlegm to drain down the throat making it red and irritated giving you a persisted cough. There are natural remedies to give you relief from the symptoms of a sinus infection.

There are many remedies available to one suffering from sinus trouble. First of all its important to stay in a place where plenty of fresh air is available. The rooms where one stays should not be too cool or too warm. It is also important to undertake regular exercises so as to keep the body healthy. It is important to take plenty of cool liquids like water and fruit juices and to avoid alcohol intake or take it moderately. Inhaling hot water vapor is a welcome remedy so is being in hot compresses, saunas and even steam rooms.

Sinus irrigation is one natural method for treating Sinusitis as well as preventing it. This practice includes running a stream of warm saline water mixture through one nostril and letting it drain out the other. Debris and bacteria are then washed out of the sinus cavities, preventing infection and clearing the airways.

Besides the tender nose, pressure in the forehead there is also the constant feeling that one’s ears are stuffed or that something is pushing in the ear canal. Sinus sufferers often hear a crackling noise in their ears that must be from the mucus or the irritation in the sinus cavities. The ears don’t usually hurt but the constant clearing and crackling noise is irritating and often leads to what could become a dangerous habit of inserting cotton swabs in the ear canal to try and clear out the obstruction.

Take a eucalyptus leave along with a pinch of salt and boil it in water until leaf becomes tender. You can use this one or two ways. Cover head with a towel and inhale vapors and or take a bulb syringe after water has cooled a bit suck the water into the bulb, hold your head back squeeze inside of each nostril eucalyptus works as a natural decongestant. So this will relieve the pressure in the nasal passageways so you can breathe better. You may also use a humidifier or clean air purifier to improve the air you are breathing in.

Treating Sinusitis naturally may be possible with a new product called SINUVIL. SINUVIL is a natural remedy, made from a medicinal plant native to South Africa, called the Pelargonium. SINUVIL claims to have the ability to naturally drain your sinuses, relieving pressure and pain, boost your immune system, enabling you to better fight off infections in the future, prevent the growth of bacteria, fungi, and viruses in your sinus cavities, preventing infection, and soothe inflamed and swollen tissues. SINUVIL is also recommended for those with weakened immune systems, such as people suffering from a chronic disease, as well as the elderly.

Where to buy really cheap airline tickets?

I am looking for really cheap airline tickets (between $200-$300) for a round trip from Boston to Orlando, departing on Feburary 17 and returning on Feburary 24. These tickets are for 4 adults and 4 children.
Thanks for the help.

I usually find som pretty good prices on the website hotwire.com.
I will suggest one thing though. If it’s at all possible change your departure and an return days. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are the least traveled days and therefore you can get much lower prices, sometimes surprisingly so.
For example, I search a flight for your group on hotwire.com for Fri, Feb 17 until Fri, Feb 24. The cheapest flight available is $654. But if you just shift the dates to the 18th and 25, the cheapest price is $457, almost $200 cheaper. If you leave Wed, Feb 14 and return Thur Feb 22 it’s $229!

Play around with dates, you might be surprised.

Also you might not be able to leave from Boston. It might be cheaper to leave from Manchester or Providence.

If is all about freedom why can’t Americans travel to Cuba for vacations if they want?

And who is pushing for this, Democrats or Republicans?? If US citizens can travel to Iran and N. Korea that are bigger threats, why can’t ppl be FREE to travel to Cuba?? I don’t like politicians telling me where to go or not to go.

Ever heard of that trade embargo……
that’s your answer
and American’s can go, but it’s a process… there’s lots of red tape

Travel deals for active duty military going home for a funeral?

My great grandma died and I’m trying to go home this weekend for the funeral. Are there any airlines that give good deals for this? I’m active duty Air Force. I’m kind of short and everything I’m finding is around $500. Any ideas?

Airlines offer "bereavement fares" but they’re a "percentage off" the full fare, and often some of the other discounted fares are better than the bereavement fares. You should call the airline and see if they offer any discounted fares. You should tell them that you’re active duty military and that you’re going to a funeral. Some airlines also have special fares for active duty personnel, although lately you have to be traveling on orders in order to get that discount.

What is best private plane for world travel?

I’ll come into a little money and may be able to buy a private plane and hire a good pilot. Would like to have the plane travel over oceans, so because of the fact, due to fuel requirements does it have to be a small jet vs. propeller type plane? Cost still is a consideration so that’s why I’m considering non-jet options, and perhap smaller planes can land at more airports, tried googling it but haven’t found info I needed so if anyone includes links let me know. Thanks to all.

If you have about $50 million, and several tens of millions more to operate and maintain it, then a Boeing Business Jet is one of the best aircraft for the job. However…

Before you start considering aircraft, you need to decide what you really want it to do for you. For instance, how many people do you expect to be traveling with you, on average? What is the longest distance you would need to fly non-stop? What kind of airports do you intend to fly to and what would the shortest runway length be? Do you require something with a cabin you can stand up in, or will something smaller do? Do you want an enclosed toilet or will a "potty seat" and a curtain suffice? Once you have these basic items decided, then you can begin to consider which airplanes are within your budget that are suitable for your "mission profile" as we like to call it in this industry.

Small jets are very expensive, and even turboprops are a multi-million dollar proposition unless you buy an old one. All such aircraft are very expensive to operate, maintain and insure, and experienced flight crews do not come cheap. Turboprops are far cheaper than jets in all these categories, however. There really arent many piston-engine aircraft worthy of consideration, at least for trans-oceanic flight. Having spent the last three years as a corporate pilot in charge of a flight department I know how expensive it can be to operate, maintain and crew an airplane. If you’re going to inherit money, I hope it’s in the tens of millions of dollars because if it is less than that your options are going to be severely limited. A top of the line turboprop costs $4M to $5M new and a decent used one is about $1M – $3M, although some older models can be had for under $1M. A top of the line private jet capable of global operations costs over $20M new. An older one of these globe-trotters that is near to engine overhaul will cost in the vacinity of $5M. A smaller jet with shorter range and marginal global capability can be purchase new for around $6M used for as little as $1.5M. Nobne of the Very Light Jets (VLJ’s) have the range you would need.

While a lot of older used aircraft can be purchsed for a lot less money than newer ones but maintenance costs are often very high on such aircraft. As I mentioned crews are not cheap, and the majority of aircraft in this category require two pilots, either as a legal requirement or as an insurance requirement. If you want a full-time crew it is going to be expensive, and finding a part-time crew that is flexible enough to accommodate your schedule is difficult. There are also yearly crew training costs to consider, which is required by all insurance companies. A few of the VLJ’s and many of the turboprop aircraft are certified and insurable for single-pilot operation.

If you do not need the speed of a jet, and depending on your budget, there are a few turboprop aircraft that I can recommend that would be usable for international travel, comfortable to ride in on long flights, and are far cheaper to buy, operate and maintain than a jet. You’ll have to EM me for more info.

What can a credit virgin do in today’s world dealing with insurance companies, rental and travel agencies?

I’ve never had a credit card and I really don’t want to have one, but I find I’m almost forced into getting one because I can’t get insurance at most places and when I find an agency that will take me, I have to pay an exorbitant premium. I also find I can’t rent a car or make a hotel reservation. I’ve always paid my debts promptly with good checks. It seems like I’m being punished for having no debts. It wasn’t like this years ago. Why is it so different today and how can I get by without a credit card?

You need to get a credit card to build your credit. Go to the bank that has your checking account and apply for a credit card with them. Pay the bill every month so your credit will look good. It has been this way for many, many years.

You might want to post more questions under the category "credit".

Mobility Accessories Mobilises!

Foundation

Mobility – it is only really likely to respect what mobility implies if your capacity to move around freely can be weakened, then it takes on a totally different purpose. Coping with another person who is partially disabled gives me an insight into the kind of troubles that people with impairments have to deal with. When you are in condition enough and sure footed there is no true appreciation of the disadvantage of not having full mobility of your person. Regardless of which nobody will be particularly interested unless it has to do with them closely.

All of us take it totally for granted when everything functions as it ought to and we get on with living our lives concentrating on making money, raising a family, having a good time and other such mainstream everyday things. Believe it or not quite often you don’t even like to notice people who are disabled and finding it hard because it makes us aware of our own vulnerability which reminds us of our mortality. Next time you see some person who’s in a wheel chair, acknowledge your own reaction to that person, and be aware of how you deflect eye contact and meticulously get out of the way. People who use wheelchairs occasionally state how folks they speak to will talk to the carer and overlook them like they are stupid in addition deaf.

Early Disability Devices

The first type of disability aid that most people will be familiar with is the walking stick. For some, it will be something to make them feel more steady on their feet when they suffer some impairment in walking. If a person has a broken leg or hip then crutches for a period of time will be needed and later a stick until full mobility returns. When I broke my hip I found the most frustrating thing was that I could not carry a cup of tea from one place to another so I improvised with a trolley on wheels which I could push along. When you have to use two arm crutches as I did to get about, there are no arms left to carry anything. For non spilling things you can use a bag to carry your things in which can be attached to your crutches, but not cups of liquid. Recently when visiting my husband in hospital I watched while the nurses unpacked a Zimmer frame on which they attached a plastic box with a tray for a lid. It was fixed like a basket on a bike. The patient had to practice pushing it along, and I realised it was because he lived on his own and needed to be able to transport things but couldn’t manage without two handed support. These types of early aids are common for people as they get older and lose their youthful mobility because of age related problems. They’re additionally needed for those who have sustained accidents and illnesses so that short-term mobility is impacted.

Self-sufficiency

One of the major frustrations for people becoming disabled is their loss of independence and freedom to be able to do what they want, when they want. If a person becomes disabled after years of normal living and independence there will be a great deal of angst and a need to make adjustments to the new situation. However, whatever the disability experienced there are a vast range of aids to help people live as independent a life as possible.

Whatever the type of disability you have there are mobility scooters to help overcome the frustration.

In the Home

When suffering loss of mobility or normal functioning whatever the reason, the first task is to create safety and functionality in the home where the level of disability determines the type of support needed.

One of the first things to consider is the quality of comfort while resting. Correct support in bed and while sitting in a chair will allow the muscles to relax properly so that the body will function as well as possible. There are a range of Orthopaedic beds which allow for many different positions from lying to sitting and the best examples are the hospital beds where you will find electronic buttons to change the position of a patient with ease. Chairs can also be found that will allow for different positions and even a vibrating and massaging function incorporated into the frame. A friend of mine had a chair specially made which reclines, vibrates and massages in three different places and also tips forward when you want to get out for ease of standing up. When we stop by we all want a go in it because it is such good entertainment.

The next trial when disabled, is the function of toilet, bathing and dressing. There are a huge range of aids to chose from such as commodes and other toilet necessities, grab rails for showers and baths. My mother is severely arthritic and cannot get into the bath anymore, so she has a seat which lowers and raises her in and out of the bath. There are also walk in baths and then specially adapted showers with stools and slip mats to aid the sufferer. Also because my mother is partially sighted she could not see the numbers anymore, so she has a set of talking weighing scales.

Having managed the getting up, washing and dressing as well as maybe a good rest in the special chair, moving around the residence will be next on the agenda. Depending of the level of incapacity it might be that a simple walking stick or Zimmer frame will support mobility. As well as grab handles in the bathroom, handles can be mounted alongside entrance doors and steps to help with negotiating different levels. Just because people suffer some sort of disability it doesn’t mean that they want to leave their homes, but when they live in a house and have stairs to negotiate then the use of a stair lift is a wonderful invention. Severely disabled people may need a wheelchair in the house which needs lots of space and possibly larger doorways to accommodate it.

The next activity for independent living is food preparation and dining. Standing can be a problem so a high stool to perch on might of value. Otherwise do as much preparation as possible sitting at the kitchen/dining table. If a person has a problem with holding cutlery and kitchen utensils, there are specially adapted items with larger handles for ease of use. With arthritis in the wrists, lifting items such as kettles and saucepans can be a problem, but there are available cleverly designed kettle and teapot tippers for ease of pouring. Using a food processer and electric gadgets will save a great deal of time and effort when preparing meals. Another simple aid which my mother found very useful is a grabbing stick or ‘Reacher’ that picks up items to save bending down.

The idea of a four wheeled scooter getting a person about is very attractive if the legs fail to do the job safely.

Maintaining the home is sometimes difficult for a disabled person. Obviously there are washing machines, dryers and dishwasher to aid with tasks in the home but you can also get remote control vacuum cleaners that are radio controlled with a joystick or key pad such as for toy boats and aeroplanes. Long handled brushes and dusters help with hard to reach corners particularly the microfiber dusters that attract dirt and dust to them.

Other items available for people who suffer some level of limitation may be lever type handles for taps to make them easier to use. If a person has lost their grip there are special items to open cans, bottles and jars. Because my mother is partially sighted she has large buttons on her telephone and speed dialling so she can stay in touch with her family who are spread far and wide. She can order goods by phone which means with such aids she is able to retain her independence and stay in her own home. It seems that whatever the disability there is some clever invention to help overcome the problem.

Outside the Home

To enable a person who is disabled to live as normal a life as possible then aids outside the home are just as important as those inside. Wearing an alarm cord around the neck is a wise precaution so that if a person does get into difficulties while outside they can call for help. To be able to move around easily outside may only require a walking stick or a Zimmer frame for support but where mobility is more restricted, wheelchairs or electric scooters may be necessary. My mother used to love to garden but now the arthritis and osteoporosis has taken hold and her eyesight is impaired, she is severely limited in any activity outside. On a good day however she does have a garden stool which enables her to do some weeding and tidying of the flower beds. There are even wheeled seats for moving along the edge of flower beds when weeding. Long handled garden tools can be used to avoid bending or kneeling and raised beds will allow even wheel chair users to tackle the garden plot. Ramps may be installed to allow a wheelchair to move from one level to another, and sit-on lawn mowers are a possibility if you have a big enough lawn.

There is a relatively new product on the market called Flexiloc which is a modular system of tough polyurethane tiles that interlocks to form ramps of any size. It has the advantage of being able to run straight, turn corners, be used indoors or outdoors and has a good grip surface that is more comfortable than conventional surfaces. It can be used as a temporary solution where a permanent ramp is unsuitable and is easily dismantled to be reused again and again.

If a disabled person relies on a wheelchair then automatic gates and garage doors which open remotely is a big help. Cars or vans used for transporting electric scooters are usually specially tailored vehicles with ramps or lifts to allow the mobility scooter to be loaded up. Sometime cars may have to be adapted to allow for the lack of functioning of particular limbs. My husband cannot manage the foot pedal movement required for gear changing so we have switched to an automatic car to enable him to still drive.

Whatever your disability you’ll find light weight mobility scooters Nottingham retailers to cater for all budgets.

There is a huge range of mobility scooters available both new and second hand. The mobility scooter is mostly a four wheeled vehicle which travels between four and eight miles an hour. However for the electric scooter there seems to be more three wheeled versions which travel at a maximum of six miles per hour. The speed is determined on the weather, the terrain and riders weight. A three wheeled scooter is inherently less stable and unless greater manoeuvrability is required it is better to get the four wheeled variety. Some scooters can be completely folded up to go into the boot of a car. The scooter usually has a chair with arms mounted over the battery enclosure with handlebars like a bike for turning and controls in reach of the hands. They are very easy to operate and comfortable to ride. The chairs vary with the amount of padding and enclosed back, usually the more expensive the more padding there is.

As well as the open versions of mobility scooters there are enclosed ones to protect the passenger from rain and wind. These come with lights, windscreen wipers, full suspension, mirrors and lockable doors as with a car and can cover larger distances. I have seen them in my local area travelling along the road rather than on the pavement.

Home Remote Controls

Where an individual is physically unable to get about inside or outside the home the use of remote controls is a valuable aid. Being able to manage and operate your entertainment centre remotely is only one of the possibilities. The availability of remote controls for opening and closing of blinds and curtains, switches for electrical equipment such as ovens, lights, cooking appliance and washing machines, is essential. For people who cannot easily answer the door there is a keyless door entry system designed to fit most latch locks which enable the elderly, the disabled and partially sighted who have difficulty using keys, to manage their security remotely.

One story I read in the paper a few weeks ago was of a young man who was so obese, in the region of forty stone, that he could not move out of his bed. He had an entertainment centre in his room remotely controlled and he ordered food online to be delivered to his house. There were three healthcare workers in attendance at all times to turn him in bed and see to his bodily needs; as well as people to make for him the food he had ordered. He was waiting for a stomach operation to staple his stomach together to reduce his intake of food. And all this was paid for by the tax payer. My feeling was that if there was no one to take such good care of him he would soon lose weight because he would not be able to get about and eat all that food. Having read that story I question the value of having remote controls so easily available, because the forced activity of getting up and out of your chair to change channels is at least exercise to keep your circulation going. However for people who cannot move around easily then remote controls are a boon I am sure.

Conclusion

For the infants who were born with a physical disability, may never know what it is like to be fully mobile and they may forever yearn to live an ordinary life. For those who were once completely functional, when they become disabled they have to come to terms with their loss as well as confront up to their own mortality. If the time comes when you are no longer able to do all the things you used to do, then be sure there are many imaginative aids that can assist you sustain as much self-sufficiency as possible.
